Biography

I’m a Medfield native—Medfield High School Class of 1972– with a background in art, music, and photography. (BFA, UMass Dartmouth, 1978.) In 1996, I became staff writer for CD-ROM/EMedia Professional magazines, also managing the local Windows/Mac network, and creating a testbed for reviewing networked hardware, including CD/DVD servers, disc replicators, Web server appliances, and various software applications.

I’ve also written features for AV/Video Multimedia Producer, Film&Video, TapeDisc Business, and Newsbytes. In 2002, I began servicing local customers as Medfield Computer Guy.

I’m active in local organizations: past president of Medfield Lions Club; past chair of Medfield Cultural Council; webmaster for Medfield High School Alumni Association.

I’ve supported open standards and portability of multimedia across devices and operating systems. I’ve opposed corporate America’s looting of the Public Domain. I was an active participant in Harvard University’s Openlaw/DVD forum and am proud to be a co-signer of the Berkman Center’s Openlaw Participants’ Amicus Brief in Universal City Studios, Inc. v. Reimerdes.
